The homotransplant for lamellar or layer-by-layer keratoplasty is tendon tissue in the form of sections 50 to 300 microns thick. The employment of sections of tendon tissue as a homotransplant enables to store at any time any required amount of the plasty material, to preserve this material easily and for long periods. Furthermore, the use of the proposed transplant cuts down the operating time and enhances the clinical outcome of layer-by-layer keratoplasty.
A mortar layer for laying a viscous mortar of a uniform width and thickness on a surface is disclosed. The variability of the thickness and width of the mortar is also permitted by adjustment of various components of the mortar layer. Uniformity in deposition of the mortar is insured by an agitator mechanism shaking the mortar onto the surface.
A method for improving corrosion resistance while maximizing magnetic performance of a magnetic disk employed in data storage applications. The invention includes providing a substrate and forming a first layer above the substrate, the first layer having a first degree of abrasion resistance. The invention includes forming a second layer such as a Ni-containing layer above the first layer, the Ni-containing layer having a second degree of abrasion resistance lower than the first degree of abrasi...
This invention relates to a new ceramic-metal composite body and a method for producing the same. Particularly, a compliant layer composition is utilized for preventing the rupture of a ceramic article and/or the yielding or failure of a metal during the pouring, solidification and cooling of a molten metal which has been cast around the ceramic. A slurry composition for the compliant layer includes plaster of paris, a liquid vehicle and a filler material. The slurry composition is coated on the...
The present invention includes stack flexible circuit layers having raised features or bumps for Z-axis interconnection to another circuit layer or electrical component. An intermediate or adhesive layer separates each circuit layer. The multiple layers are stacked with the raised features from one layer aligning with pads of an overlying or underlying layer and are laminated so that the raised features pierce the intermediate or adhesive layer and make electrical contact with the corresponding ...
A tile layer can be opened to expose its interior for tile loading and unloading. The layer is functional to handle both arched and round tile, and is used in conjunction with a trenching apparatus.
This invention relates to means for protecting substrates and in particular Ni- and Co-base superalloys from high temperatures, for example temperatures such as typically occur in gas turbine engines. In more detail an article suitable for use all elevated temperature (up to 1600.degree. C. and beyond) comprises a metallic substrate on which is deposited a first coating or layer comprising one or more of the platinum group metals or an alloy including one or more of the platinum group metals on ...

An adsorption layer for retaining liquid or gaseous organic hydrocarbons prior to such matter reaching a sealing sheet of synthetic material. The adsorption layer includes activated carbon that is incorporated loosely or is bonded to the sealing sheet. Retention of the organic hydrocarbons in the adsorption layer prevents possible diffusion of this matter through the plastic sealing sheet.
The protection layer (3,4,5) applied to a support (1) by a vacuum plasma spraying process comprises an adherence layer (3), an intermediate layer (4) and a coating layer (5). In order to enable a universal application of the protection, particularly in the construction of turbines, foundry and nuclear technique, the adherence layer (3) is made of a selected material having a composition and a thermal expansion coefficient close to those of the material of the object to be coated (1). The interme...
